Job Description


The opportunity...

We are seeking a passionate experienced human resources business partner to join the global Centre HR Team supporting our 200 UK based corporate employees.

This is an exciting opportunity for a HR professional who can inspire change and business results through the use of strong influencing skills and deep functional expertise. Specific HR experience with multiple markets, performance and talent management, organisational design, employee relations, and leadership are a must.

What will my accountabilities be...

Driving Culture & Change

  • Leading change management efforts related to numerous large scale change projects
  • Contribute to long-term goals for the international side of the Global business
  • Champion change initiatives, getting buy-in from Global Function Leadership
  • Create and implement an action plan to continuously drive the McDonald’s culture and core values

Compliance and risk mitigation

  • Provide strategic counsel on all people matters to mitigate and prevent risk for the business
  • Lead sophisticated and complex employee relations issues and investigations across all levels of your stakeholder group
  • Be responsible for organisational compliance and recommending best practice approaches to maintain compliance when legislation changes

Strategy & Influence

  • Plan, develop, lead, and direct people strategies that align with Global Function objectives and implement global people strategies locally.
  • Identify opportunities to build a diverse talent pipeline for the future.
  • Lead the analysis of employee feedback and data, translating it into an effective and commercially focused People Strategy.
  • Drive collaboration between markets and McDonald’s HQ in Chicago, supporting international growth and developing global processes that support our employees.
  • Partner with Chief People Officers and their leadership teams based internationally, to align efforts of functional partners with corporate teams and share best People practices that drive the business and enhance the McDonald’s Brand.

Leadership coaching

  • Be a trusted partner to the Shoreditch Executive team, working with them directly, and being held accountable for the performance of the HR function and the Office
  • Partner with functions on organisational design work to shape a healthy organisation, and lead and direct the process
  • Hire to retire functional HR including, but not limited to, performance management, employee relations, benefits and compensation, internal mobility, staff retention, talent acquisition, talent planning, headcount and position management, talent and team development and compliance, working closely with COEs, the UK market and Legal as required

Team Leadership

  • Manage and motivate a team to effectively deliver on strategic objectives
    • Direct management of HR Supervisor and Office Manager
    • Dotted line management of Shoreditch IT Support
  • Continuously develop the structure to effectively deliver on business objectives
  • Be a key contributor in cross functional projects to better support the Centre HR team and the System

Which team will I be part of...

You will be a part of the Centre HR team within the Global People team. The Centre HR team are predominantly based in the US so a strong virtual relationship with them will be key. Locally you will be part of the Global People Team in Shoreditch and partner closely with your team, the Global Talent Acquisition Manager as well as the UK market HR team based in East Finchley.


Qualifications


Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field, or HR qualification.
  • Solid employment law knowledge and demonstratable experience of applying updated legislation to various people situations.
  • Experience in Organisational Design.
  • Experience of working with, guiding, influencing and partnering with leadership.
  • Communication skills to manage diverse personalities and viewpoints and collaborate and build relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a very fast paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Demonstrable experience working autonomously.
  • Strong business acumen – ability to understand our business, our strategy, our purpose, our culture and be able to have meaningful conversations and influence our Leaders in those areas.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to navigate difficult or unexpected challenges along with ability to make decisions independently.
  • Flexibility around working hours as we operate across several time zones.

Preferred

  • Multiple country HR experience.
  • Previous experience in positions of seniority, establishing credibility and building department accountability.
  • Experience of acting as a role model, demonstrating and leading on the values, initiatives and culture of our Brand.
  • An advocate for developing employees and empowering teams.
  • A passion for working with people and working beyond the confines of the job description.
  • Experience working in a remote team.
  • Comfort working across a matrix environment and influencing partners at all levels with whom you have no authority.
