Apprentice Mechanic

The Malcolm Group is a privately owned and highly successful logistics, construction and maintenance business employing over 2000 people across the UK. Malcolm Construction is one of the largest civil engineering contractors in the country, also operating the largest tipper and skip hire fleet in Scotland and is a recognised leader in landfill, waste management and recycling.

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic Apprentice HGV Mechanics at our quarry in Loanhead, Beith to strengthen our existing teams.

Our Apprentice HGV Mechanics will gain a Modern Apprenticeship in a construction operation and will include undertaking a SVQ qualification via a training programme. Successful candidates will receive on the job training, support and mentoring.

A positive and professional attitude and the ability to demonstrate initiative is essential as are excellent communication skills.

Training and development will be given with regard to the following responsibilities and duties which will include but are not limited to:

· Assist with the routine maintenance and repairs on all vehicles both on site, at customer premises and also attending roadside breakdowns when required.

· Support with the maintenance and running repairs to an extensive and varied fleet.

· Assist with the service, maintenance, MOT preparation and running repairs of mixed fleet.

· Support with the running repairs and defect rectification on a mixed fleet.

The hours of work will be based on Monday to Friday and are expected to comprise a 40 hour working week.
