Position Overview & Specifications

Senior Project Controls - Reporting Manager – Midlands

The opportunity

Mace PMO Services are looking to employ a Reporting Manager based in the Midlands. The role will be based on site in Coventry, West Midlands 4 days per week.

Project: Mace provide PMO services (project controls, planning and scheduling, risk and change management) to a client who operates within the utility and energy sectors. Projects can vary from pre-construction through to construction work. Projects can be any type of civil engineering works including utilities, roads and rail. Often, Mace are managing multiple projects at any one time with values ranging from hundreds of thousands of pounds to multi-million-pound projects. Exposure of having experience of working in the role on the above type of projects is essential.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibility

  • Designs and delivers reporting capability on own within small projects, or as part of a wider Mace reporting team in larger projects

  • Ensures that reports are run in alignment with the required drumbeat

  • Creates content in PDMS and updates as required

  • Supports / mentors other Reporting Managers and Assistant Reporting Managers

  • Delivers client requirements to time and quality

  • Provides advice and guidance regarding reporting processes and tools to wider Mace team / clients

  • Understands and embodies safe working practices in offices and on site

Leadership & Behavioural qualities

  • Manages others – including delegating, coordinating, appraising, coaching, and developing / mentoring employees with less experience

  • Persuades and influences clients, consultants, suppliers and colleagues

  • Works with others to create and deliver persuasive presentations

  • Tackles problems that do not have an obvious solution

  • Represents Mace in a professional manner at all times

Other mandatory attainments

  • Degree or equivalent with professional work experience in one or more specific disciplines in the Construction, Programme, Project or Commercial Management disciplines

  • In addition to mandatory training courses:

Technical professional with reporting and performance experience;

  • Technical professional with reporting and performance management experience;

  • General understanding of all aspects of Project Controls, how they complement each other & wider project delivery

  • Understanding of reporting processes & recommended tools;

  • Working knowledge of current methodologies & tools related to managing projects;

  • Able to lead negotiations with third parties as reporting / performance management specialist;

  • Able to respond to client / stakeholder requests effectively & sensitively;

  • Excellent attention to detail & able to validate & check data and reports, recording & reports produced, providing basic commentary & analysis;

  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence systems such as Power BI are desirable.
