JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Progression Support Worker

Based in: 47 Chalk Farm Road, NW1 8AJ

Reports to: Director of Charity and Social Impact

Hours: 40 hours per week - usually 8 hours a day with 30 minute paid lunch, flexible timings to ensure availability for Luminary beneficiaries when they need. There will be occasions where evenings or weekends are required but these are not often.

Salary: £24,400.70 -£31,000.00 per annum, depending on experience.

Length: A two year fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension, subject to funding.

Job Purpose: To join our Progression Support team, providing specialist support for women who have experienced multiple disadvantages. Empowering them to move towards independence, employment and fulfil their potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create person-centred holistic development plans for graduates to become independent, using our ‘Independence Tracker’ to assess their needs and set targets on a regular basis.
  • Nurture women’s engagement with Luminary’s vocational training programme, helping 80% of graduates to complete a minimum of 80% of their vocational training.
  • Provide individual support and build trusting relationships with our graduates, proactively reaching out to arrange sessions, attend appointments with them and check in on their progression
  • Deliver or facilitate group sessions, weekly wellbeing workshops (which sometimes involve faith based reflections) as appropriate/desired.
  • Support the work of the Luminary mentor scheme, offering guidance to volunteer mentors
  • Liaise effectively with other agencies involved in the care/support of service users (including Social Workers) to ensure their needs are sufficiently met. This includes attending meetings with external agencies and advocating on behalf or alongside women.
  • Respond quickly to safeguarding concerns, reporting appropriately to Luminary Safeguarding Officer and the local council as necessary, supporting the individual appropriately through the process
  • Build relationships, network with & keep open communication with employers offering work placements or recruiting new staff to offer opportunities to graduates.
  • Send regular updates of job opportunities and other relevant opportunities to graduates, supporting them to apply for roles and prepare for interviews to achieve positive work outcomes.
  • Keep detailed records of all case-working according to best practice and aide in safeguarding, monitoring and evaluation
  • Build relationships with local services relevant for signposting service users to, connecting women with opportunities in line with their support plan (eg specialist services, work experience, additional courses).
  • Champion Luminary’s holistic understanding of wellbeing, which recognises the spiritual needs of those recovering from trauma. Be available to offer chaplaincy-style support (which could involve prayer or signposting to our Chaplain, where invited) to any women wishing to access this.
  • Assist the Programmes Manager in evaluating the services Luminary offers to report to funders, assist with completing new funding applications and internal monitoring.
  • Regularly monitor risks associated with individuals you are supporting
  • Contribute your experience of best practice to shape the way Luminary operates effectively

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in social work/mental health related disciplines
  • An IDVA/ISVA/IGVA Qualification
  • Experience of the VAWG sector
  • Experience delivering group sessions
  • Advice & guidance qualification
  • Experience of developing or shaping new services
  • An active christian faith, with an awareness of the helpful role that faith can play in women’s recovery from trauma and ongoing wellbeing (held alongside an awareness of the need to communicate faith with sensitivity and inclusion).
  • Lived-experience of disadvantage and/or gender based violence
