Position Overview & Specifications

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. This is an exciting opportunity to lead an IT team in a leading research university.

The AV & Classroom Support Team provide support to staff and post-graduate students in teaching spaces such as classrooms, lecture theatres and meeting rooms. The team is responsible for troubleshooting issues, providing advice, ad-hoc urgent support, pre-booked support, set up of AV hardware and demonstrations on how to operate equipment. They may also provide support for events including high-profile activities.

The role involves leading the team whilst taking part in the above duties and incorporates a good mix of support and projects; covering a wide range of activities and meeting a wide range of people. The post-holder will lead technical projects and challenges e.g., the design, architecture and layout of equipment in teaching spaces and meeting rooms. You will be required to manage the workload of the team as well as your own and perform line management duties. The team will also be on the rota for the front-line helpdesk alongside colleagues from our other support teams.

The post-holder will have substantial experience relevant to the post alongside experience of front-line multimedia service support in a complex environment. They will have appropriate AV Systems knowledge, including systems to support lecture theatres, meeting and teaching rooms. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time and permanent.

The salary will be on the Professional Service scale Grade 6 in the range £42,875-£48,691 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro-rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
