Job Description and Role Responsibilities:

We are looking for a committed and proactive Technician to join our Sample Management Team.

Job purpose:

In this role you will provide and develop, as part of a wider team, a high quality sample management service for the analytical chemistry service customers of LGC Sport and Specialised Analytical Services (SSAS)

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct analytical work using appropriate techniques and in accord with regulatory standards, e.g. ISO 17025
  • Act in compliance with the site Health & Safety Policy
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and well equipped work area. Observing any operational regulations
  • Working as part of an operational team to provide samples to the laboratory in a timely manner
  • Receive samples and perform integrity checks, completing all documentation
  • Dispensing, storage under relevant conditions and disposal of samples
  • Log samples to LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) or to ‘out of hours’ book when required.

Education, experience and technical skills:

  • Effective time management; ensuring objectives and tasks are completed on time and to an acceptable standard
  • Enthusiastic with a positive attitude and willingness to get involved
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Make a positive contribution and take responsibility for how actions affect the rest of the team
  • Good communicator, able to convey written and spoken information accurately and concisely
  • Team worker, able to work flexibly and with initiative to bring forward ideas
  • Educated to GCSE level; acquiring 5 GCSE's graded A-C
  • Experience in a regulated laboratory environment is advantageous.
