We are seeking proven leaders to lead and deliver programmes to customers, and grow our key accounts across our Cyber and Digital Advantage product families.


What you will do


As an Area Lead you will manage a portfolio as a group of projects and programs, which may not necessarily be interdependent or directly correlated, to maximize the value and support successful outcomes of strategic objectives. In particular:

Leadership

Defines and implements strategy and standards for the delivery of the Portfolio, encouraging positive relationships, developing effective team working, empowering and inspiring individuals:

  • Establishing empowered and self-managing teams that measure themselves through outcomes
  • Ensuring all team members are valued and respected and supported to be successful while achieving their desired work life balance
  • Encouraging growth and development of all team members
  • Actively participates in PM forums or equivalent governance group (UK/cross division) to ensure best practice, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
  • Actively involved with recruitment, training and mentoring of others through both informal (on the job training, lunch time learners, sharing experiences) and formal (mentoring program, supporting training courses) approaches

Performance Management

Working in the interest of the business and supporting strategic objectives, maximize the value of the projects within their area:

  • Ensure all projects and programmes in the portfolio adhere to functional governance and business processes and directives
  • Anticipate, mitigate and manage cross project/programme dependencies and through prioritisation and balance of resources, working with practices when required
  • Manage the execution and control activities of the portfolio, monitoring the performance of all projects and other related work in the portfolio
  • Establishing, building and influencing internal and external stakeholders and using business management skills to maximize the economic and financial objectives of the portfolio to meet the Integrated Budget Plan (IBP)
  • Report on the portfolio performance to the senior leadership team (SLT) identifying issues and areas of success, risk and opportunity, highlighting any requiring support

Account Management

Establish strong relationships with the customer to understand what they value and using that information to:

  • Work with other functions and product teams to deliver sound, innovative solutions and compelling offerings
  • Support Project and Programme Managers in maximizing value delivered to customers, driving a positive customer experience
  • Supporting the negotiation of complex agreements and risk/reward mechanisms for business case models
  • Develop the account, increasing the value of commitment from the customer or providing value to the customer through other product options


What we are looking for


  • Extensive experience in the defence and/or security sector and demonstrable understanding of the current landscape and challenges
  • Understanding of the cyber security landscape in terms of threats to defence and security sectors, and some of the approaches to managing cyber risk across people, process and technology
  • Familiarity with common cyber security standards and guidance including NIST and NCSC
  • A formal qualification in Cyber Security such as CISSP, CISM or NCSC CCP is strongly preferred
  • Experience developing solutions to customer problems
  • Understanding of Agile delivery approaches such as Scrum and Kanban
  • Experience leading cross functional teams to deliver against requirements to time and budget
  • Ability to think and work independently with limited oversight
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, and comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels in an organisation from technical experts to board level.
  • The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of the current organisational constructs and stakeholder landscape in the UK Defence sector
  • The ideal candidate will hold DV clearance; however SC Clearance is required as a minimum, with willingness and ability to attain DV Clearance
