Position Overview & Specifications
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join our team to investigate the impact of parental obesity on the structure and function of their adult children’s and grandchildren’s brains. The position is funded by Alzheimer’s Research UK and is available for 1 year under the supervision of Dr. Cheryl Hawkes and Dr. Neil Dawson in the Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences at Lancaster University, UK.

The Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences, within the Faculty of Health and Medicine, is a rapidly growing, innovative and vibrant Division whose research effort is directed towards understanding basic cellular and physiological mechanisms that underpin disease states. Research areas include neurodegeneration, mental health, ageing, infectious diseases, immunology and cancer biology.
We are seeking a highly motivated researcher able to carry out cutting edge statistical analyses of complex biological datasets obtained from 3 generations of human participants in the Framingham Heart study. You must hold or be close to completion/submission of a PhD in Biostatistics or a related discipline and have experience carrying out statistical analysis of large, complex biological datasets. Excellent communication skills and the capacity to work well in a team, including with external collaborators, is also essential. Candidates should also demonstrate evidence of being able to effectively troubleshoot research problems and work independently.
