ENST offers an excellent research environment with a high level of collegiality, excellent industry links, and a strong seminar series. In the Department, we investigate the initiation, management, and effects of transformation for organisations and places. The strategy group (SG) in ENST focuses on behavioural aspects of strategy and strategic management, such as the varieties of strategies needed at different levels of organisations and the distinctive characteristics inherent in them (e.g. economic, social, ethical, and practical concerns) that shape both the development and implementation of strategies. The behavioural approach to strategy within the SG is apparent in the diversity of research areas, including but not limited to strategy process and organisational change, strategy implementation and capability development, corporate social responsibility, cognitive and psychological underpinnings of strategising, strategic leadership and decision-making, corporate strategy and transformation, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), business model innovation, global strategic management and internationalisation, open strategy and innovation, digital strategy and digital transformation, etc. The SG further acknowledges other approaches to strategy and embraces a high level of diversity.
Our research in ENST is internationally recognised, and members of the Department (including doctoral researchers) publish in leading journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of World Business, Organization Science, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, British Journal of Management, Long Range Planning, and Strategic Organization, just to name a few.
