We are seeking a person who is passionate about technology and who has strong communication, technical and problem-solving skills to join a great team of like-minded people within the Technical Infrastructure Group (TIG) of ISS (Information Systems Services) at Lancaster University. This indefinite role, as a Junior Systems Administrator working within the Storage and Virtualisation team, will share and develop skills in the areas of Virtualisation and Storage including public cloud and research computing. It’s a great opportunity to build, or further develop your IT career working within enterprise-class datacentre environments. You will be joining a progressive technical team that manages the university’s storage and virtualisation demands and ensures the efficiency, availability, and security of these services. Your role will be to help maintain, develop and support a range of virtualisation systems including systems administration tasks such as keeping physical hosts and virtual servers patched and secure.
As well as technology, communication and problem-solving skills, you will be able to interpret and represent the needs of the consumers of the services which this team provides and supports. You will be joining a growing and supportive team that is passionate about you and the technology that we work with reaching its full potential.
You will also bring a courteous and professional manner together with an enthusiasm for working in a service-focused, project and programme environment.
It is essential any candidate is able to attain UK government security clearance.
You will have an opportunity to complete an appropriate apprenticeship.
