If so you could join our hard working team as a band 6 Specialist Radiographer. You will ideally have experience in all aspects of plain film radiography, theatre, fluoroscopy and CT however training will be given in all relevant areas for the right candidate. You will rotate throughout the main x-ray department and CT scanner providing a high standard of patient care and imaging.

Full and part time applicants will be considered.

You will help provide a 24h service in all aspects of plain film, fluoroscopy and CT imaging. The candidate must be able to work night shifts and weekends as well as day time.

The Specialist radiographer is responsible for the planning and allocation of work in the specific area of the department assigned, to ensure the timely delivery of an effective service.

You will monitor and maintain standards of professional practice, supervise more junior staff, including radiography students, and deploy staff assuring standards are met. Provide leadership and direction to the team, acting as a role model and patient advocate. Assess, plan and make informed decisions on the required Imaging examinations providing advice and maintaining associated records

The post is based at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital which received a ‘Good’ CQC rating in 2019 and is part of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The role involves helping to provide a 24h service to the residents of Preston, Chorley and South Ribble including weekends, nights and CT on call.

The department has 3 digital general rooms plus fluoroscopy, interventional and CT scanning. We also provide a full range of ultrasound, MR and symptomatic breast work within the hospital site. The department supports career development with a variety of advanced practice roles including plain film reporting and fluoroscopy. The directorate is working towards Quality Standards in Imaging Accreditation (QSI2019).

Duties to include, but not be limited to:
  • Maintain the highest standard of radiographic practice at all times.
  • Comply with IRMER and IRR
  • Communicates with a wide range of patients, relatives and other healthcare workers to ensure appropriate dissemination of complex information in a form and manner consistent with their level of understanding.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues in a manner consistent with relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • Actively try to resolve complaints and issues at a local level
  • Maintain professional development and ensure training is up to date and promote high standards within the department and Trust.
  • Adhere strictly to the Trust and Departmental policies with regard to Health and Safety and deal with related issues.
  • Manage daily workload in the allocated area and assist in service improvements.
  • Promote equality and diversity
  • Ensure safe administration of medication
