The Discharge Lounge is set within the Outpatients department at Chorley Hospital, and we are looking for someone who is caring and compassionate, dedicated and motivated and who enjoys new challenges every day. You will be part of a fantastic, well-led team who care for patients during both their discharge and outpatient experience to ensure a high standard of care is received.
As a Senior Health Care Assistant, you will support the qualified nursing staff to provide high standards of care to our patients. You will be a valued member of the multi-disciplinary team and support the team with care, assessment and treatment and discharge of patients.
Quality of care is of the highest agenda for our department and thus concentrated efforts are ongoing to ensure a positive patient experience. The team are committed to teaching and supporting staff and are looking for these qualities in new team members.
You will work in the Discharge Lounge and all the Outpatients areas. Main Outpatients, Sumner Suite, Resource Centre and the new Cuerden Suite which will open later in the year. You may at times be also asked to cross site cover to support Preston Outpatients Department and their separate Discharge Lounge should staffing levels demand.

Duties to include, but not be limited to:
- Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards.
- Take samples from patients for testing or dispatching eg: Urine, sputum, faeces, MRSA swabs, blood sugars, venous blood sampling and ECG recordings.
- Assist patients to meet nutritional needs in line with their individual
- Undertake clinical duties relevant to clinical area following achievement of competencies
- Assist to maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines
- Assist in maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care
- Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals
- Contribute to maintaining safe, clean, and productive care environment, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness
- Maintain and develop own competence
- Actively try to resolve issues and complaints at local level and then report the outcome to line manager.
