Chauffeur / Bearer (Casual)

L Tranter & Son are a 6th Generation Family Funeral Directors business operating from premises in St Georges and Donnington in Telford, and Newport in Shropshire.

The Successful applicant will be smart in appearance, have a professional attitude to work and will possess a full clean driving licence.

We are seeking a flexible, hardworking individual to join our dedicated team, who will continue to offer the highest of standards to our Bereaved clients.

Job Description and Duties.

This role consists of driving our modern Jaguar Hearses and Limousines on local funerals for L Tranter & Son and the surrounding counties for third party Funeral Directors, to whom we hire out our fleet. In addition to driving the vehicles you would be expected to act as an attendant on Funerals and will be required to carry out bearer duties on both Burials and Cremations

Your main duties will be…

1) Funeral Duties, Driving Hearses and Limousines, Bearing Coffins and assisting on Funerals.

2) Valeting Cars, both Funeral Vehicles and Private Vehicles to a high standard.

3) There is also an option of participating in an ‘out of hours’ call out rota.

Our commitments with Hearse and Limousine Hire to third party companies take our vehicles to several different counties surrounding Shropshire. There will be some long days and some short days and for this reason no guaranteed hours can be offered.

The jobs are allocated out on a fair basis between the Casual team of Drivers depending on who is available.

Uniforms will be supplied by ourselves and you will be expected to arrive for duty looking clean and smart.

We have a complete NO Smoking policy; Therefore you will NOT be permitted to Smoke whilst on duty, in Company Vehicles or at any of our Premises.

Part-time hours: 10 - 20 per week

Salary: £11.39-£11.40 per hour
