THE OPPORTUNITY
Currently we're looking for a Power System Engineer who will lead the technical aspects of the battery energy storage projects and provide expertise to support project development from the project inception through to energisation. KEY RESPONSIBILITY

  • General design of grid scale battery storage system including site layout and SLD design, augmentation optimisation, power system study and grid code compliance, control/monitoring system and ancillary systems.
  • Technical support for the procurement of grid scale battery storage system.
  • Technical support for EPC tendering and technical due diligence.
  • Review the project specific constraints, specify technical requirements and collaborate with the EPC/contractors to optimise the design and engineering solutions (BoP and ICP).
  • Work closely with Project Manager to monitor project development process and review technical deliveries throughout the design, construction and commissioning.
  • Supervision of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and/or Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
  • Attend technical meetings with key stakeholders (EPC, NG/DNO, Technical Due Diligence, …).
  • Technical assessment of new BESS projects in the development portfolio.

SKILL & COMPETENCIES

ESSENTIAL

  • Design experience in grid scale battery storage plant or utility HV and EHV substation.
  • Proven technical knowledge of Li-ion battery, inverter and battery storage system integration.
  • Experience with design software DIgSILENT or ETAP.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and certifications in energy storage system.
  • Ability to keep up-to-date with new products / technology and technology advancements in the industry.
  • Commercial awareness of system design and engineering solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and collaboration abilities.

DESIRABLE

  • Familiarity and experience with Transmission & Distribution network and Grid Code requirements in UK.
  • Experience in grid battery storage plant.
  • Excellent AutoCAD and MS Office skills.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor or Master degree in engineering (with a specialism in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent).

Salary: Up to £100,000.00 per year
