Position Overview & Specifications
The post is based at Kingston Hospital but there is the opportunity to work some sessions from the South West London Pathology hub site within St George’s Hospital
The role involves results authorisation, provision of clinical advice via telephone calls and e-referrals, ITU rounds and antimicrobial stewardship ward rounds. There is an on call and weekend working commitment shared between the consultants (1 in 5 on call, category A).
There are lead roles shared among the consultants on a rotational basis, changing approximately every 3 years by mutual agreement – infection control doctor for Kingston Hospital, infection control doctor for community organisations Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare (HRCH) and Your Healthcare, infection control doctor for the Royal Hospital for Neurodisability, department clinical lead, antimicrobial lead, OPAT lead. The post holder will be expected to take on one or more of these roles by mutual agreement.
This substantive replacement post is based at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, a single site acute hospital with approximately 400 beds, supporting a population of around 350,000 people in South West London. Kingston Hospital is one of the largest employers in the region and employs over 3,700 staff. We are proud of our reputation as the largest single site district general hospital in London, with the second biggest maternity unit in London. Each year, over one million people visit Kingston Hospital for treatment or as a visitor. Kingston Hospital was the first acute Trust in South West London to gain Foundation Trust status, and was rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission in 2018.
