Pool Lifeguard

The safety of our customers is a huge responsibility, and one that we take seriously. We are now recruiting Pool Lifeguards to join us for the 2023 season at the UK’s largest and most celebrated art deco Lido in Cornwall - Jubilee Pool Penzance.

We are looking to build an exceptional team who not only strive for excellence in pool safety but provide overall amazing customer service to our visitors. We are a dynamic, innovative social enterprise run by and for the community, and offer a unique opportunity to work in fitness, tourism and leisure and develop personally in an environment unlike traditional lifeguarding roles.

The Role

We are looking for someone who is alert, professional, understands and can act on safety matters and can communicate and work well in a team. You will work as an ambassador for our charitable enterprise to promote our good reputation in the community making sure safety is our number one priority. As part of your key responsibilities you will be:

· Monitoring users of the pool at all time to ensure they are safe

• Ensuring people in and around the pool are complying with guidelines, policies and procedures to have a safe and enjoyable visit
• Carrying out first aid, rescues and emergency procedures when required
• Alert and professional at all times
• Conducting essential cleaning duties when not actively lifeguarding
• Positively promoting the pool, events, history and services

You need to be able to work well under pressure in a busy outdoor environment as part of a team and possess good communication and observation skills. You must also be committed to regular fortnightly training and maintaining your fitness levels.

We are keen to hear from applicants who have additional skills to lifeguarding, such as teaching fitness, exercise to music and other relevant qualifications.

Minimum Requirements (see full job profile for more details):

· Desirable: Minimum 1 year experience as Lifeguard

· Essential: In-date National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)

· Essential: Must be able to swim 200m in 4 mins and demonstrate all skills set within the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (such as vice grips, spinal injury care, etc)

· This role is subject to DBS checks as part of our safeguarding responsibility and eligibility to work in UK

We will be offering a mixture of casual and fixed term contracts with scope to work all year around as the new geothermal offering grows.
