What's the role about?

This is an important role within the Catering team which will be providing food to our Partners.

The role requires excellent communication and customer service skills. It can be physically demanding with some manual handling and would suit someone who is highly motivated and able to take initiative when working with the team or on their own.

The responsibility will be working in a medium sized kitchen, preparing hot and cold foods and pastry items ensuring a clean and tidy working environment.

You will be operating, cleaning and maintaining equipment within the department is essential as well as having an excellent knowledge of the John Lewis food safety standards.

What you will be doing?

As a Cook at Herbert Parkinson you will be:

• Ensuring menus are delivered to the highest possible standard, on time and within cost parameters, including compliance and risk management.

• Leading the team, who you task manage, to support the Hospitality & Food Service team in the delivery of the highest possible operational standards.

• Contributing to the growth and efficiency of the Hospitality & Food Service profession.

• Stretching your influence to act as part of the overall service delivery team in Herbert Parkinson

• Applying the John Lewis food safety policies and procedures which include all legislation applicable to the Catering operation

• Overseeing the opening, closing and daily running of the operation

• Preparing, serving and presenting food to a high standard

What you will have?

• Good communication skills

• Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate. - Level 2

• Recognised Food Production Certificate. City & Guilds 706 1 & 2 or equivalent

• Operational experience in production kitchens, canteens or hospitality

What else can you bring?

• Working towards Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate - Level 3
