Position Overview & Specifications

We are looking for a reliable and caring waking night support worker / carer for 15 year old teen who has autism, epilepsy and additional health needs.

He lives at home with his family and dog. He has a team of learning support workers & carers who help him with his daily life & routines & all of his personal care and to keep his environment clean & tidy.

This specific position would require you to provide 2 overnight waking support shifts (these are waking nights) per week and sometimes there is the possibility to cover other team members (when they are on holiday). The training for this position will be during the day initially. The nights that need covering can be between Sunday and Thursday.

He is a friendly, non verbal, very autistic teenager. He needs help with all elements of daily life. He is developing his communication skills using picture exchange and gestures, such as pointing.

Unfortunately he often also needs a lot of care as he can have seizures which lead to him needing to spend time in hospital.

He has also other health needs.

You will be provided with regular training on his health needs, care needs, and behavioural support.

The training is provided by the experienced team members as well as his ABA therapist.

You need to be physically strong and fun as well as very reliable.

Experience with disabled teenagers / children and autism is preferred.

This might be a good position for someone who has a keen interest in disability, psychology, nursing and the position would suit a student of a relevant field.

It is also an opportunity to learn a lot and to be part of a very nice supportive team.

You would need to be willing to commit for a minimum of 12 months.

This position is for 26 hours per week but sometimes more when possible.

Ideally you would be able also to take on more hours in weeks when your colleagues would be away on holiday.

Starting wage is £15 per hour which will increase to £16 per hour after 6 months probation period. You will have a certain amount of paid holidays too.

On a side note: you would have to like dogs as there is a friendly big family dog.

If this role interests you please send your CV.

Please send a short cover letter or a few sentences explaining your interest and suitability in this particular position.

All CVs without a position specific cover letter attached or at least a few sentences explaining your interest will be automatically rejected.

We will also later-on need 2 relevant references and a current DBS.

We look forward to hearing from you.
