Full job description
Inwood residential services is looking for an Assessing Social Worker to join their highly supportive team, carrying out court directed parent and child assessments whilst in 12-week placement.
Within the family assessment unit you will be responsible for examining and observing the nature of the interactions between the child, family and environmental factors and will be key in helping make sound recommendations around future planning.
In addition the social worker will be required to work within our residential services, to provide support when required.
This role is an excellent opportunity for an experience front line / children’s social worker with solid assessment and report writing skills. Rather than carrying a large case load, you will be carrying a maximum case load of up to Twelve families or children hence will have significant time to carry out direct and creative social work, having extensive time to build a rapport and complete both in depth interim and final reports
You will also have the support from a team of family assessment practitioners who would carry out day to day support to families and complete daily reports and contact supervision.
Brief overview of responsibilities:
Carrying out court directed assessments within controlled time frames, Undertaking ongoing risk assessments of families and childnren, acting decisively to protect children. Building appropriate professional working relationships, working in partnership with families advising and supporting parents in the care of their child(ren) and within a registered children's home.
Maintaining a consistently high level of observation, recording, interaction, communication and assessment of families interaction, need, parental motivation and daily events within the Unit
Attending court and giving evidence as required
You will be / have:
- A qualified social worker
- SWE registered
- Significant prior experience of working within child protection
- Significant experience within children’s services and a good understanding of the court arena
- Comprehensive experience of writing assessments
- Confident, professional and pragmatic when delivering / presenting evidence to court
- A car owner / driver
- previous ISW experience is desirable
Salary: £38,000 to £45,000 experience dependant
