Position Overview & Specifications

Head of Community Growth (up to £60,000)

About the role

As Head of Community Growth, you will be responsible for using social insights to identify new audiences, understand trends, benchmark competitors, build and manage communities whilst ensuring they drive brand and commercial objectives. Reporting into the Audience Engagement Director, you’ll be working across some of our most-loved brands such as; Radiotimes.com, BBC Good Food, Gardeners’ World, HistoryExtra and our Parenting titles. Through social audience discovery you will deliver insights and feedback, increase reach, drive traffic, grow brand presence, build trust and provide sources of revenue.

As Head of Community Growth you will;

  • Develop and deliver a strategy to build and maintain our brands communities, by engaging with audiences across social platforms, reporting on key metrics that you will establish
  • Identify community growth opportunities using social insights to reach new audiences where they are likely to interact through social listening, benchmarking and audience studies
  • Lead on commercial opportunities – create ways to drive revenue through our current and future communities working closely with brand, sales, commerce and partnership teams
  • Oversee social community moderation across our brand portfolio and interest groups, establishing key principles, guidelines, TOV and working with professional moderation resource. You will be responsible for managing the process, SLA, budgets and reporting
  • Manage a direct report, Community Growth Lead, focused on achieving audience engagement, community growth, brand affinity, increased traffic and revenue
  • Work closely with colleagues including brand, legal, PR and Burda Intl. teams to deliver best practise and to ensure any issues are resolved as efficiently and proactively as possible
  • Feed into editorial, sales and marketing planning, sharing ideas for content creation, campaigns and commercial optimisation based on feedback you identify as relevant

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of social and digital communities, with experience in discovering, growing and expanding relevant audiences
  • Demonstrable experience of using social listening tools to discover new audiences
  • Capability with social media tools to identify influencers, creators, manage UGC and set-up competitor benchmarking
  • Experience of working with and managing a professional moderation resource
  • Social media insight, analytics and reporting expertise across audiences and engagement
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to share knowledge and learnings
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills with attention to detail
  • Creative thinker – the ability to spot opportunities and develop them on your own
  • Commercial acumen- experience of generating revenue opportunities through community
