General Farm Worker

Ian Mosey are a family business who finish pigs for the UK pork industry, produce animal feed for our own livestock and 3rd party customers, and run a mixed arable, cattle and sheep farm.

We are looking for a general farm worker to work alongside our team based at Coulton, assisting with all duties relating to the livestock enterprises. This is a very practical and varied role which requires an adaptable and practical candidate. Training will be provided to develop your knowledge, skills and efficiency in your job and progression to more senior roles in the company will be encouraged over time.

Key responsibilities

• On the pig rearing operation based in and around Coulton, you will assist with feeding, bedding and general care of pigs ensuring welfare standards are maintained to the highest level.
• You will support our team of livestock hauliers and fieldstaff with sorting, loading and unloading pigs on farms across Yorkshire.
• You will assist our fieldstaff with sorting and vaccinating piglets on farms across Yorkshire.
• You will assist with fabrication and repairs of livestock equipment in our on-site workshop.
• There will be occasional work across the cattle, sheep and arable enterprises at busy times.

Skills & Experience

• Experience working with livestock would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
• A genuine desire to achieve excellent animal husbandry and welfare.
• This physically demanding job requires a fit and energetic person.
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• A full UK driving licence is required – you will require your own transport to attend work but a company pool vehicle will be provided to travel between farms.
• Friendly and have excellent communication skills.
