Position Overview & Specifications

This is an exciting opportunity to train with and be part of an innovative service, fundamentally changing the way in which psychological treatments are provided.

The HPFT NHS Talking Therapies Team covers Hertfordshire, the main bases being St Albans, Watford, Stevenage and Welwyn & Ware. You will work from one base and in community venues in your area. Service preferences can be expressed at interview, although ultimate decisions will depend on service need.

Our services are focused on delivering high quality therapy, being among the highest performers in the region. The service finished the year (2021/2022) and preceding years with recovery rates exceeding the national target of 50%. We continue to run innovative groups for our clients such as Perinatal, Older adults and Long Term Conditions. We pride ourselves on the support we offer to staff and provide an extensive programme of CPD for all our clinicians.

These High Intensity trainee positions involve undertaking a PG Diploma in High Intensity CBT via UEA or UH alongside clinical work within ONE of our Hertfordshire services. Once qualified our High Intensity Therapists will be required to apply for/achieve accreditation with the BABCP.

We are looking for applicants who have enthusiasm for working in a primary care setting, who are adaptable, enjoy variety, can work independently, and understand the importance of team working.

We are seeking highly motivated, dynamic, flexible and creative staff. You will be part of a multi-professional workforce that will significantly increase access to treatment for people with common mental health conditions, within a Primary Care setting.

Applicants must have a core profession as recognised by the BABCP

OR

Applicants to training who don't have a BABCP recognised core profession can enter via the KSA route.

Further information can be found on the BABCP website.

If you are a PWP without a core profession you will need to have 2 YEARS POST QUALIFICATION CERTIFICATE PWP EXPERIENCE by the time the course starts (September 2023).

We have included a post qualification person specification. If you don't meet all criteria at this point, please show us which criteria you do meet, as shortlisting will be against this document.

If you are invited to interview, you MUST bring with you any qualifications certificates and evidence you hold. Offers cannot be made without this information.

If you do not have a BABCP recognised core profession you MUST follow the KSA procedure and prepare your portfolio prior to interview. This will be scrutinised by the course KSA lead who may ask you further questions about your portfolio at interview. If you are successful they will give you feedback on which areas require further work to be completed by the end of the training. You will submit your portfolio again during the course to be marked after undertaking the required actions.
