Position Overview & Specifications

We are looking to appoint a well organised, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual in the role of Team Administrator for 30 hours per week (working pattern to be agreed) fixed term to 31-12-2023, to support our Offending Behaviour Intervention Service (OBIS) which is a small, friendly team that sits within the wider Specialist Learning Disability Service.

All OBIS service users are at risk of, or have offended, and receive support to keep themselves and others safe. The post-holder will be exposed to difficult and sensitive material about offences, which maybe distressing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of general office administration across the team and must be proactive and able to work on their own initiative, with experience of taking and producing minutes and papers for meetings. The post requires proficient skills in using all Microsoft Office applications.

Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential. The post holder acts as a focal communication point for the team, dealing with queries from colleagues, stakeholders, service users and carers.

We are seeking an individual who is positive, compassionate, flexible and creative in their approach, who can work alongside team members to provide high quality and effective administrative support as required.

The post holder will demonstrate an enthusiasm for professional development and will be motivated to further themselves, by gaining understanding and skills through various training opportunities.

The Learning Disabilities Team is a welcoming and supportive team. The post holder will benefit from a comprehensive supervision and appraisal system, with a commitment to staff development.

The post holder will be based at Bowlers Green, Radlett.

Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) is an outstanding organisation with ambitions to match. We are one of just five mental health trusts to achieve an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ from the Care Quality Commission, and our aim is to be the leading provider of mental health and specialist learning disability services in the country.

Our family of over 3500 members of staff provide health and social care for over 400,000 people with mental ill health, physical ill health and learning disabilities across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Norfolk, delivering these services within the community and several inpatient settings. We also deliver a range of nationally commissioned specialist services including Tier 4 services for children and young people, perinatal services, plus medium and low secure learning disabilities services.

The care we provide makes a fantastic difference to the lives of our service users, their families and carers - everything is underpinned by choice, independence and equality, with our Trust values embedded throughout:

Our Trust values are:
Welcoming. Kind. Positive. Respectful. Professional.

These values are at the core of who we are, everything we do, and how we do it!

To provide comprehensive, professional, effective Administrative support to clinical colleagues in our Offending Behaviour Intervention Services (OBIS) Team.

The post holder is the first point of reference and as such must display a considerable degree of initiative, possess mature judgement and maintain a calm, friendly and efficient manner when dealing with service users, their relatives, colleagues and visitors. They will need to have the ability to deal with upsetting information discussed verbally or detailed in reports needed to be typed, e.g. sexual and violent offences, etc. There may be a requirement to impart information to service users that they may find upsetting e.g. cancelling appointments and there will also be a need to be able to personally manage the effect of upsetting information given by service users or people in a distressed or challenging state, within the supportive environment of the OBIS team.

The post holder will be required to work independently using initiative, and applying a high degree of confidentiality to all of their work. To undertake non-routine duties without direct supervision, working within broad procedural guidelines.

All staff should comply with the Trust’s Anti-Discriminatory Statement, Employee Charter, Trust Policies and Procedures, Code of Conduct and Equality and Diversity
