Position Overview & Specifications

This position is responsible for maintaining online product catalogue and categories, making updates and amends as required. You will be assisting in ensuring all product is accurately represented onsite with high availability for the customer. This role focuses on product set-up and categorisation, ensuring product ranking is correct and relevant product upsell & cross-selling opportunities are maximised.

The Online Trading Assistant will also assist in reviewing and reporting on Hamleys trade performance to the wider team, identifying opportunities, sharing insights, and recommending action where appropriate. They will also support in onsite product merchandising as required, utilising visual merchandising tools to ensure the most relevant product is visible to the consumer, promoting conversion optimisation by understanding product rankings and usage of product filters.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work within the eCommerce Trading Team to drive sales, online merchandising, workflow management and improving the speed to market of new product.
  • Ensuring products have the required data and imagery to launch on time and working to resolve any issues as quickly as possible to optimise sales on site.
  • Prioritise the workflow of new product setup with key internal and external contacts.
  • Support with weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc trade reporting, using web analytical tools and sales reporting systems to feedback on performance including sales, availability, conversion, AOV.
  • Maintain strong brand relationships ensuring strong understanding of seasonal priorities and launches.
  • Support in delivery of recommendations based on rationale to drive upsell and cross sell opportunities, AB & MVT testing, and defining test scenarios.
  • Management of onsite search and merch tool and overseeing the testing of new features online.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to improve the customer journey and UX, through competitor review and research and manage the new product roadmap.
  • Optimise site navigation, customer journey and product placement to drive online sales.
  • Support building and delivery of the trade calendar highlighting key opportunities for product, trend, and brand launches.
  • Maintain and update all documentation regarding product information and attributes.
  • Prioritise workflow in reaction to communications of upcoming trading and product promotions both internally and externally.
  • Responsible for ensuring products are available onsite in a timely manner prioritised based on commercial return.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all product content is created by relevant parties and effective from a commercial and customer perspective (including copy/imaginary/SEO/META DATA).
  • Support in creating & editing assets for online using adobe photoshop.
  • Support reporting and troubleshooting on OOS, Abandonments and NPS and feed in solutions to customer challenges.
  • Support onsite testing with key launches, onsite content and trading opportunities across devices and regions.

Required skills:

  • Experience in a fast placed retail marketing environment.
  • Degree qualification in a relevant field.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop.
  • Proficiency In all Microsoft Office programmes.
  • Product and stock management systems e.g. Magento
  • You are data driven in your approach, understand the digital customer and able to analyse the key metrics across sales, traffic, AOV and conversion.
  • You will have a commercial mind set with a focus on driving sales & customer retention.
  • You will be able to prioritise and plan to deliver against sales targets & commercial Digital KPIs and supporting the trading function to delivery big commercial trade calendar moments.
  • Attention to detail.
  • You will be passionate about online trading; you’ll be in touch with the latest trends – spotting the next big thing is something that’s always come naturally to you.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, be organised, and have the ability to work across stakeholders within the business.
  • You will understand the competition, and regularly feeds back on their trading activity.
