RAN Test Engineer

First Point Group are recruiting a RAN Testing Engineer to join our customer project. We are looking for an experienced client-facing engineer with proficiency in 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE RAN and VoLTE testing on a live telecom network.

This is a 6-month extendable contract starting in March 2023. The role is a hybrid position with the majority of work remote-based, and occasional travel to the office required.

The role will involve analysing and diagnosing main RF Issues like Dropped calls, Blocked calls, Poor coverage, Handover Failures, Interference, RACH failures.

Required experience for RAN Testing Engineer:

• 
  We are looking to hire an experienced engineer with an extensive background in 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE RAN and VoLTE testing on live tier 1 telecom networks.
• To be considered for this position you must bring a deep understanding of 3GPP standards, including procedures, call flows, and KPI statistics, and extensive working knowledge of 4G Radio Access Network technologies, especially in management of parameters and optimisation.
• In addition, we are looking for someone with knowledge and understanding of IP Networking Protocols including IPSEC, TCP, SCTP, and Layer 2 & 3 messages, RRC/RLC Layers.
  
• LTE system integration knowledge is also required, along with plenty of recent experience in testing and troubleshooting with proficiency using system logs, OS logs, UE logs, and network logs.
• Finally, we are looking for someone with experience Testing Nokia and Ericsson RAN Technologies (vRAN, Small Cells, MIMO, Timing and Sync with GPS, PTP), with End-to-end testing, in all areas - IMS calls (MTAS, eNodeB, CSCF, MME, SGW, PCR, SBG)
