Social Worker Assistant

Introduction

The role of a Social Worker Assistant is a complex and demanding position, covering all areas of the Bridge. As a Social Work Assistant, you will have a clinical case load and will also be expected to support both the nursing and therapy teams within their clinical and statutory duties.

The role is based solely at The Bridge with management supervision provided by a member of the SMT, and clinical supervision will be provided by the Regional Lead Social Worker. Working hours will be Monday to Friday covering 37.5 hour per week, although some weekend work may be required at times.

This role could lead to sponsorship for social worker qualification.

Key tasks will be:

• Supporting, Managing and Monitoring the completion of the Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest Meetings.
• Supporting key staff with Deprivations of Liberty Safeguard (DoLS) referrals.
• Supporting and becoming a member of the Sites Safeguarding Team.
• Supporting and leading on benefit applications.
• Delivering training for both Safeguarding and the Mental Capacity Act on both induction and mandatory training.
• Completion of CQC notifications (safeguarding and DoLS)
• Liaison with external professionals.
• Report writing
• Audits
• 1:1 sessions with residents.
• Participation in meetings (Clinical Governance, Team meetings etc)
• Willingness to undertake additional training.

Although training and support will be provided throughout your employment the following skills will be essential:

• Knowledge of relevant legislation (Mental Capacity 2005, Care Act 2014)
• Ability to assess need and risk
• Ability to manage a caseload
• Ability to deal sensitively with stressful and distressing situations for service users, relatives, and carers
• Have good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to assimilate complex information
• Understanding of Anti-Discriminatory and Anti Oppressive Practice
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to understand and manage sensitive and confident information.
• Knowledge of the safeguarding process.
