About this role


EE are recruiting for a Data Engineer to join our Accounting and Financial Control team based in our new Bristol office on a permanent basis offering flexible hybrid working.

Our ability to understand our 30m customer base and how they transact with us is fundamental to our future success. To achieve this, data and information is key.
The CDMI team sit within the Consumer Finance function at BT and focus on creating easy to use information for Finance and the wider Consumer business on which to base key financial decisions. The advertised role is part of a team of developers who have created a best-in-class Commercial Data Mart product which is at the heart of the BT data landscape.


The role will be to further develop and maintain the data product in line with the often, fast moving pace of the business to ensure the relevant parties understand the performance of any new products and propositions. As we move into an era where cloud computing is rapidly expanding this is an exciting opportunity to join the team at a time where we’re exploring the next generation of platforms and tools to further enhance the scalability and reliability of our products.


We’re looking for a skilled and motivated SQL developer to join an established team of like-minded individuals who can bring with them a wealth of experience from similar roles held elsewhere to hit the ground running.

Key responsibilities
You’ll be passionate about working with data, be capable of designing data tables that can be accessed by a wide range of capabilities – getting information into the right hands. You’ll pride yourself on creating a quality product – writing performant code, applying constraints to assure data quality, and holding high regard for development standards.
  • Working within an agile squad to develop, maintain and assure the CDM data products used by the Consumer function at BT for reporting purposes.
  • Assist in migrating the CDM data products to a cloud-based solution, including validation of migrated tables.
  • Produce effective documentation and process map new developments and changes.
  • Responsible for investigating problems when they arise, communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and working with supplier teams where required to find resolution
  • Effectively manage your workstack to ensure that priorities are dealt with and deadlines for developments to support new products and services are met during the sprint lifecycle.
  • Work within and contribute to CDM’s strategy, standards, and governance.
Key skills required
  • A proven track record of developing and supporting large data products in SQL language, ideally in one of the major cloud database platforms – AWS/GCP/Azure etc.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts
  • Capability to automate, schedule, and create dependencies within procedures.
  • Experience of working within an agile scrum framework ideally using JIRA and Confluence.
  • Familiar working with version control and change management best practice principles.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills to ensure our customers are kept informed along the development journey.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into robust, workable solutions
