Position Overview & Specifications

Direct Line Group is the umbrella for a range of household name brands, including Direct Line, Churchill, Green Flag and Privilege. We have a broad range of products, from motor and home insurance to breakdown and landlord cover.

This is a hybrid role, with time split between home and our London office.

How to apply: To support your application please submit your portfolio along with your CV (if we can access it via a link, that's fine)

Who you'll be working with:
We're looking for a Product Designer for a 6 month period to join our growing Experience Design team. We believe in connecting people to brands through brilliant experiences, and strive to represent the customer in every conversation, and every decision. You’ll join a team of creatives including copywriters, UX designers and other creatives, focused on building and optimising customer journeys for our range of brands and products at Direct Line Group.

What we’re looking for:
Are you an inquisitive, collaborative, Product Designer with a passion for user centricity and empathy for customers? If you are, you’ve come to the right place.

You’ll be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing responsibilities for multiple projects at any given time.

We need a great communicator with the confidence and skill to sell their ideas, using data and insights to underpin their decision-making.

You thrive on interacting with people and working collaboratively. You’ll hopefully have experience in Sketch, Figma, Creative Suite, InVision and more. But don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes, your brain is much more important than the tools you use.

What you’ll be doing:

  • A typical day will involve a healthy mix of product, UX and service design, working within an Agile framework.
  • You'll create and document user flows, and rapidly produce wireframes and prototypes.
  • You’ll conduct research, run user feedback sessions (lab, online and guerrilla) and regularly deliver your findings to senior stakeholders.
  • You’ll get stuck into the challenge of taking complex problems and breaking them down into simple tasks with elegant solutions.

Ways of Working

We recognise the importance of flexibility, not only in our personal lives but also in the way we work. Our mixed model of working offers a 'best of both worlds' approach, combining the best parts of home and office-working, offering flexibility for everyone.

Your base will be at our new head office in London Bridge where you’ll have access to our modern user testing lab.

How much you’ll be in the office depends on your role, and we’ll consider the flexible working options that work best for you.

We recognise we wouldn't be where we are today without our colleagues, that's why we offer excellent benefits designed to suit your lifestyle, including:

  • 9% employer contributed pension
  • 50% off home, motor and pet insurance plus free travel insurance and Green Flag breakdown cover
  • Additional optional health and dental insurance
  • Up to 10% annual bonus
  • EV car scheme allows all colleagues to lease a brand new electric or plug-in hybrid car in a tax-efficient way.
  • Generous holidays
  • Buy-as-you-earn share scheme
  • Employee discounts and cashback
