Transport Shift Manager

Pay Rate: £32,000 to £34,000 depending on experience
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)
Shift patterns: Monday - Friday, Week 1: 3.30am - 12pm, Week 2: 9.30am - 6pm
Location: Ipswich (IP1 5NX)

DHL, award winning leading supply chain business is seeking a Transport Shift Manager to play a vital role coordinating our daily logistics requirements. To succeed in this role, you should have a comprehensive knowledge of supply chain management practices and a demonstrative understanding of warehouse procedures, including storing goods, dispatching orders and tracking transportation vehicles.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE ENTAIL?

• To directly assist Operational Management by managing and generating the shipping requirements for distribution routes, from warehouse to end-user, maintaining precise and up to date performance reports for your designated shift.
• To manage and implement productivity by communicating job expectations to direct line reports, ensuring that all deadlines are safely met within allocated time frames, always maintaining standards of excellence.
• To track and trace shipping orders using a digital In-house tracking software system, ensuring that all legislation and records are maintained and kept at optimum level.
• To monitor recruitment levels and initiate staff training as required, keeping up to date records in-line with company policies.

WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?

• Previous and practical experience as a Transport Manager within a logistics environment
• HGV Driving experience and International transport Managers CPC would be an advantage.
• Comprehensive knowledge of supply chain practices.
• Computer literate with a practical knowledge of all Microsoft packages.
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage, organise and train direct reports.
• Familiarity with Microlise software would be an advantage
