Job Title: Teacher of Computer Science & Information Technology

Job Location: Derby College Group, Joseph Wright Centre

Salary: up to £37,634 per annum + Extensive Benefits Package

Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Monday – Friday

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic individual to join our excellent computing teaching team at the Joseph Wright Centre. We currently offer the following courses.

  • BTEC level 2 and 3 in Information Technology courses
  • Level 3 T Level in Digital Production, Design and Development
  • Level 3 T level in Digital Support Services
  • Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) in Software Development from September 2023.

We are looking for an early career or experienced teacher to join our teaching team. You will be expected to be highly motivated, organised and with up-to-date knowledge of teaching in the computing field.

You will possess effective communication and presentation skills, with excellent classroom management skills. You will be well versed in explaining computing technical knowledge in a clear and interesting way to leaners at different levels, and with diversified expectations. You will be expected to demonstrate these skills through highly effective planning, outstanding teaching, learning and assessment. As we work with local employers, you will be expected to harness the powerful input of employers, enrichment, and pastoral elements to ensure all of our students can reap the benefits of this stimulating industry.

We expect to hear from you and join our outstanding teaching team if you are an analytical thinker with teaching or proven expertise in two or more of the following:

  • Python, C, C# and C++
  • JavaScript Frameworks (Angular, React),
  • Java,
  • Go,
  • Ruby,
  • PHP,
  • SQL
  • js.
  • Full stack developer (Web developer)
  • A database developer (SQL),
  • Graphics and animation.
  • Software testing
  • Computer networks and cybersecurity

You will be expected to hold a relevant teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed) or willing to work towards achieving the teaching qualification. We expect you to possess a Level 2 or equivalent qualification in maths and English.
