This position sits in our Manchester-based Design & Technology business unit. We primarily deliver large scale website design and build projects, combining our skills in developing future-ready technical solutions with our expertise in creating beautiful designs to help clients including Nikon, London Marathon Events and END. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional and engaging digital experiences.

JOB PURPOSE:

We are looking for a talented individual to join our Design & Technology UK team as The Head of Operations for web design and build services. As Head of Operations you will be responsible for ensuring that day to day activities and processes are undertaken across all departments as effectively and efficiently as possible. You will work with Heads of Departments/Leads and the Senior Management team to review and improve ways of working, to achieve the best service for all clients. You will foster a positive, highly productive work environment whilst maintaining Dept®️'s core values, and strive to achieve the business objectives for growth, profitability and quality.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily and weekly review of OPEX KPIs comparing MoM and YoY performance, and direct areas for deep dives and improvements
  • Review and manage the utilisation and billability of staff and their skills, through regular forecasting & capacity planning, and identify hiring triggers. This includes bi-weekly OPEX reviews with each Head of Department
  • Review and own the month close & invoicing life cycle, coordinating Project Managers and Operations, & working closely with Finance
  • Manage financial project accounting, revenue recognition and monthly forecasting based on headcount
  • Provide operational data and insights for continuous improvement across departments
  • Review and maintain all key operational processes
  • Work with each department to ensure they can achieve their goals and evaluate departmental performance against the annual business objectives of that department
  • Continuously evaluate ways of working to ensure regular assessment and improvement on company-wide systems and processes, in alignment with the Global Operations Team
  • Identify (with senior management) areas in which the business can improve operation and set goals to promote company growth
  • Oversees local implementation of global guidelines, frameworks and processes, and is responsible for the evaluation, planning & implementation of processes (change management) relating to business operations.

SKILLS AND PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

  • Proven leadership skills and experience of working cross-departments within a digital agency
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Highly motivated and motivating individual
  • Ability to prioritise issues across all projects and support contracts
  • Experience of working in a fast paced digital environment and proactively managing the delivery of all work
  • Process oriented approach to working with a focus on the quality of all work
  • Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of business finances and cash flow
