Position Overview & Specifications

Are you passionate about improving the lives of children and families? Are you a skilled professional who puts children at the heart of your practice? If so, this could be the opportunity for you.

Croydon is transforming its approach to early help, radically changing the way we work with children and families to ensure they are offered the right help at the right time, and in the right way to make a difference.

We need Support and Interventions workers who want to make a real and lasting difference for children and their families. You will work with parents and carers of children aged 0-18, requiring intensive support as part of a social care or early help plan. You will also be delivering evidence based parenting support in one to one and group settings.

Based within one of our three locality teams, you will take a systemic approach to supporting families, enabling parents and carers to identify their families’ strengths and their needs. You will be supporting parents and carers to improve child outcomes and build resilience. You will work directly with parents and carers, empowering them to support their children to ensure they reach their full potential.

About you

We are looking for individuals who are able to develop excellent relationships with families, parents and professionals and are able to engage families who may be hesitant or reluctant to work with the service.

You will be a skilled, experienced and child-focussed practitioner, with a background of relationship based work with children, young people and their families and a broad understanding of child development. You will be able to tailor your knowledge to work with families across a wide age range, including expectant parents, early years, secondary transitions, adolescents and preparation for adulthood.

You will have experience in facilitating group interventions, creating a safe and supportive space for parents to access support.

As part of your role, you will be delivering evidence based group programmes as well as supporting families in a one to one capacity. Candidates must therefore possess good skills of time management, whilst demonstrating an ability to prioritise the progression of key tasks.

In return for your passion, hard work and commitment we can offer you a supportive working environment with regular reflective one to one and group supervision and an excellent learning and development offer to further enhance your skills and expertise. The council supports flexible and agile working following completion of your probation period, and offers a generous annual leave allowance and a range of staff benefits for you to access.

Interested? We would love to hear from you!
