JOB TITLE
– Warehouse Operator

DEPARTMENT – Supply and Inventory Group

LOCATION – Hamble

WORKING HOURS – 12 hour shift; 7am – 7pm (4 days on, 4 days off)

SALARY – Competitive, plus 8.7% shift allowance

What you will be doing


As Warehouse Operator, you will be operating within a goods-in / goods-out warehouse team environment, ensuring safe handling and secure storage of materials and equipment used within CooperVision’s UK Manufacturing processes. You will maintain the day-to-day operation of the raw materials warehouse functions across both Hamble and Chandler’s Ford sites, solving problems as necessary to ensure optimum operational workflow is maintained. Other responsibilities include:

Health and Safety

  • Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act as well as all company H&S and PPE policies, actively promoting good health & safety practice.

Operations

  • Receive goods into the Warehouse, label and put away to designated storage locations.
  • Facilitate delivery of bulk materials into bulk storage.
  • Pick and issue stock for distributing to UK manufacturing units.
  • Participate in stock taking.
  • Drive company vehicles on and between the Hampshire-based UK sites.
  • Operate fork-lift trucks and other equipment for safe handling and movement of goods.
  • Carry out daily checks of essential working equipment.
  • Use computer-based inventory management systems.
  • Combining teamwork and self-motivation, contributing to an engaged and inclusive working environment under the guidance of the Warehouse Team Leader.

Full training to gain competence in the above operating activities will be provided.

What skills and experience should you have?


Essential:

  • Full Clean Driving License for 3.5T vehicles - please do not apply for this role unless you possess this
  • Good communication skills (written & verbal English)
  • Proactive and service driven

Advantageous:

  • Full clean Driving License for vehicles up to 7.5T
  • Manual Handling Equipment License; fork-lift truck, etc.
  • Previous experience of working in a warehouse or store environment
  • Previous experience of using computer-based inventory transaction systems
  • Problem solving with a continuous improvement orientation
  • Good general standard of education.
