Position Overview & Specifications

An exciting opportunity has arisen to expand our corporate pharmacy team at Circle Health Group.

We are looking for an exceptional, dynamic leader with experience in hospital clinical services and management to join as a Regional Head of Pharmacy, overseeing pharmacy services for a portfolio of facilities.

As a direct report to the Group Chief Pharmacist, you will be a key member of the corporate pharmacy team, professionally accountable for a portfolio of facilities. Providing input into the strategic direction of the pharmacy directorate and medicines. Safety to deliver the vision for developing and delivering exceptional, high-quality patient care.

This is a Full time role for 37.5 hours a week and will be required to work normal business hours.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Registered Pharmacist with the GPhC.
  • Higher degree/post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent post-graduate diploma in specialist area.
  • Computer literacy e.g. Microsoft Word and Outlook and pharmacy systems.
  • Ability to apply advanced levels of clinical reasoning. including drug expenditure monitoring.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels.
  • Evidence of effective interpersonal skills with particular ability to liaise with MDT members.

Duties of this role include:

  • The Regional Head of Pharmacy Services is directly accountable to the Group Chief Pharmacist for the overall management and development of pharmacy services for a portfolio of facilities.
  • The postholder will be responsible for the overall management of facilities in their designated region. There will be opportunities to rotate the position once established; however, during annual leave, the postholder will be requested to support the other sites.
  • To provide leadership and overall management support to the Clinical Services Managers – Pharmacy (CSMs) in the provision of pharmacy and medicine management processes.
  • To work collaboratively with the Directors of Clinical Services (DCSs) to ensure pharmacy teams provide an efficient, high quality, professional and comprehensive clinical and operational pharmaceutical service within their regional directorate.
  • To work collaboratively and strategically in partnership with the Area Director of Clinical Performance (ADCP) to ensure all pharmacy services are delivered to an exceptional standard.
  • The postholder will be one of three Regional Medication Safety Officers (MSOs), reviewing themes and trends to improve medication safety and governance within pharmacy and across the region, sharing lessons learnt and best practice with the rest of the organisation.
  • Provide exceptional leadership, expertise, mentorship, and support to pharmacy practitioners.
  • Collaborate with the ADCPs to deliver local and corporate pharmacy/medicines management objectives.
  • Work strategically and operationally in partnership with the DCSs, Executive Directors (EDs), CSMs and other leads within the group.
