The Role

We now have an exciting new role for an outstanding Occupational Health Nurse Reporting to the Head of people and culture, with the support of the Executive, Senior Management team and Board of Trustees, you’ll provide a professional, in-house occupational health service to our employees and interns.

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Assist the Occupational Health Advisor (OHA) to undertake occupational health (OH) policy and procedures to ensure they meet legislation and Department of Health recommendations reflecting standards of best practice.
  • Provide timely and regular health surveillance in accordance with current legislation. To liaise with the OHA, Health, and Safety team, and if required, the employees’ GP.
  • Support the OHA in the design and delivery of health promotion initiatives under the wider banner of wellbeing.
  • Support the OHA with defined projects as agreed with the OHA to support the delivery of a proactive occupational response (for example, Zoonotic disease risk management).
  • Focus on your own personal development, maintaining a good understanding of current OH trends, keeping up to date with industry information with a focus on your continuous professional development
  • Keeping accurate and confidential Occupational health records in line with GDPR and Data protection.

Our Requirements

  • Be a registered nurse with NMC Part 1.
  • Have an up-to-date knowledge base of professional and specialist issues.
  • Have a good standard of numeracy and written English.
  • Be accountable, confident, and assertive with a grounded approach to practice.
  • Able to work flexibly and independently, with minimum supervision.
  • Be proactive, with the ability to manage own time and workload to meet service needs and deadlines
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a wider team.
  • Be a competent user of Microsoft Office
  • Be willing to undertake relevant training.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality. Demonstrates respect for others and has tact, empathy and diplomacy when dealing with employees/interns.

Although not essential, the following would be desirable:

  • An OH qualification and being fully trained in occupational testing (e.g. audiometry, spirometry) would be an advantage, as would knowledge/experience of working in public health environments.
