Position Overview & Specifications

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Neutering Support team for a Neutering Support Advisor, based remotely with some time spent at our National Cat Centre in Chelwood Gate, on a 12 month fixed term contract. You will join us working 35 hours per week and in return you will receive a salary of up to £25,765.62 per annum plus excellent benefits.

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity with a nationwide network of adoption and homing centres, volunteer-run branches and charity shops. During 2021, we helped 137,000 cats and kittens. That's the equivalent of around 375 cats a day!

The Neutering Support department is part of the wider Feline Welfare team and supports the smooth running of our Neutering programme by speaking with the public, issuing out neutering vouchers and ensuring that the Community Neutering team are supported.

Responsibilities of our Neutering Support Advisor:

As our Neutering Support Advisor you will be responding to enquiries from the general public requesting financial support and advice on the neutering of pets and the capture and care of feral cats; received by telephone, email and postal routes, including via our National Helpline. You will input requests for vouchers, assess the owner’s means and send out individual vouchers where an owner qualifies for assistance, and provide non-clinical neutering-related advice alongside.

You’ll respond to initial neutering scheme enquiries (including first contacts) by telephone, letter and email from internal and external partners: branches, centres, volunteers, veterinary professionals, advocate charities, and local authorities. You'll be making outgoing calls, drafting emails and letters to resolve issues and as part of proactive projects.

What we’re looking for in our Neutering Support Advisor:

  • Experience of call handling and making outgoing calls
  • An excellent telephone manner
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, accurately and under pressure
  • Adept at working from multiple databases at one time
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel

What we can offer you:

  • salary of up to £25,765.62 per annum
  • generous annual leave entitlement
  • contribution pension scheme
  • life assurance scheme
  • range of health benefits including private healthcare
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • and more

Join us as our Neutering Support Advisor and know you are helping to make a real difference to cats and kittens across the UK!
