We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Service Manager to join the Haematology, Immunology & Metabolic Medicine Directorate. You will play a lead role in the seamless operational functioning of our services, taking line management responsibility for designated staff and lead responsibility for key administrative and operational management duties required to maintain and develop services in line with directorate initiatives and priorities.
This is an exciting role, the ideal candidate will require experience in waiting list management (RTT), cancer tracking and will support with QSPE (Quality Safety and Patient Experience) meetings. Staff management and service development experience is preferable within the NHS, a proven track record of leading a team and excellent interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to lead with "Staff Voices" where staff will have the opportunity to provide feedback to the Directorate team with suggestions.
The Assistant Service Manager role is an ideal management development opportunity which requires the post holder to carry out an operational and business management function, which will require significant prioritisation of tasks to ensure targets and deadlines are met within required timescales. The successful candidate will have experience liaising with and managing queries from a range of stakeholders, will possess a keen eye for detail, and will offer a track record of supporting teams to deliver high quality outcomes.
The candidate must possess excellent organisational, problem solving and communication skills. They must be capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines and have the ability to confidently engage with colleagues at all levels of the organisation. The post holder will be required to work autonomously to drive forward their own programme of work and will need to use innovation to overcome challenges.
This post is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to gain experience in order to progress to a Service Manager role.
This post is fixed term for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.
