Position Overview & Specifications

The Psychological Well-being Service (PWS) is looking to recruit qualified High Intensity Therapists (HITs) across the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough counties. These positions are also open to suitably qualified individuals seeking developmental opportunities at Band 6. These may include candidates who are looking to get an IAPT recognised modality, including Counselling for Depression (CfD), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Behavioural Couples Counselling or Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT).

We would consider BACP/ NCS or UKCP accredited counsellors who may need additional training in these IAPT modalities. Alternatively, the post holder may be a ‘practitioner psychologist’ with a protected title of clinical or counselling psychologist and registered with the HCPC.

The post holder will support the service to ensure that national guidelines are adhered to, targets are achieved and that the clinical governance arrangements are in place.

They will provide evidence based psychological interventions to patients at step 3 across all sectors of care, providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working under supervision within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.

The post holder is required to have professional accreditation with BABCP or should be eligible for accreditation with this professional body and actively undertaking the process of applying for accreditation. This would be expected within 3-6 months of starting in post.

The PWS is currently operating a hybrid working pattern. This means 80% of the work is done remotely and 20% is in-person. However, this is subject to review according to service need and Trust’s directive at any given time.

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is a health & social care organisation dedicated to providing high quality care with compassion to improve the health & wellbeing of the people we care for, as well as supporting & empowering them to lead a fulfilling life.

To achieve our goal, we look to recruit high calibre candidates that share our vision & values. As an equal opportunities employer, we encourage applications from all sectors of the community, particularly from under-represented groups including disabled people & members of our ethnic minorities & LGBTQ+ communities.
