Position Overview & Specifications

Full Time & Part-time /Fixed Term 12 months.

We are recruiting a Reducing Domestic Abuse Manager and a practitioner. In this small team there will be 2 practitioner posts and 1 manager/practitioner post.
The manager will recieve additional increments to reflect the responsibilities.
These positions will be co-located in each of our area offices. We are looking for a practitioner with experience of delivering evidence-based domestic abuse interventions with the ability to undertake management responsibilities alongside the responsibilities set out in the job paperwork.

In the management role you will:
  • Manage the other two practitioners.
  • Develop the practice approach within Bristol
  • Report monthly on performance and provide a quarterly report with qualitive and quantitative data
  • Deliver interventions to families, both to non-abusing parents and parents whose behaviour is harmful or abusive to their partner and/or children
  • Provide advice and consultation to social workers on assessing and intervening effectively with domestic abuse.
Should you be a qualified social worker applying from outside Bristol City Council you can be offered a permanent social work post within Bristol and be seconded from that permanent arrangement to this opportunity.
Domestic abuse is the most common reason for a child and their family to require support from a social work service. In Bristol we want to ensure that we achieve the best outcome for our children and their families so they can grow up free from abuse and harm.

We are pleased to be recruiting to Reducing Domestic Abuse Advanced Practitioner posts. These positions will be co-located in our area child protection services. The full-time post is in the South Office (Symes House) and the part-time post is in the North office (Ridingleaze House) The North position could be 2 or 2.5 days.
We are looking for practitioners with experience of delivering evidence-based domestic abuse interventions who want to take on a senior practitioner role, leading the service in improving outcomes for children.

In the role you will work directly with families, both to non-abusing parents and parents whose behaviour is harmful or abusive to their partner and/or children. You will also provide advice and consultation to social workers and family support workers on assessing and intervening effectively with domestic abuse.

This is a programme in partnership with Bristol's Public Health Service as part of the Keeping Bristol Safe Partnership's Domestic Abuse Strategy.

You will be a confident and experienced practitioner who wants to work creatively and differently with families who experience domestic abuse in child in need and child protection.

You will recognise the need to do things differently to make change and will have excellent communication and engagement skills with all family members. You will be skilled at engaging men and communities groups who are minoritized or experience significant disadvantage.

You will enjoy working in multi-disciplinary teams and providing high quality interventions in the context of high risk domestic abuse and complex needs.
