Position Overview & Specifications

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join a developing Clinical Psychology service within the Artificial Limb and Appliance Service, based at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

The post holder will have previous experience of working with people with physical health, mental health, or other complex needs, and undertaking therapeutic work or assessments.

The role will involve working directly and indirectly with people at various stages of the amputation and prosthetics pathway, and will include extensive MDT working. With the support and supervision of qualified and trainee Clinical Psychologists, the post holder will have the opportunity to develop their clinical skills in assessment, formulation and brief therapeutic interventions on either an individual or group basis. The post-holder will also be supported to enhance their analytical skills through involvement in data collection, research, co-production, and service development. Supporting the smooth running of the psychology service will also be an integral part of this role. If desired, support will be provided for application to Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

This post is fixed term for 12 months due to - meet the needs of the service

The post holder will also be a member of the BCUHB Health Clinical Psychology Department, which is a supportive, friendly and growing department of Clinical Psychologists and Psychotherapists working in physical health services across BCUHB and has strong links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme.

This newly created part-time post is initially fixed term for 12 months, but there is a possibility that this could be extended.
