Legal Counsel – Cash Management
London



As a Barclays Legal Counsel in the Cash Management team, you will be managing and mitigating legal risk, proactively identifying legal risks, achieving business objectives, escalating to senior stakeholders and recommending and implementing solutions within the relevant business teams. You will also support the cash management product team and other corporate banking infrastructure teams involved in the development of new products and support of existing, cash management products in Corporate Banking.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?
• Managing, prioritising and completing workload within required timescales
  • Complying with internal policies, and escalating risks (legal, compliance, operational), breaches and transaction level issues
  • Gaining and maintaining knowledge or market practice and regulatory environment generally, with particular focus on developments impacting Cash Management
  • Delivering training to the business and infrastructure functions
  • Helping to make existing processes more efficient
  • Maintaining standard forms, precedents and templates
  • Providing assistance on projects, including remediation matters
  • Assisting colleagues in the Cash Management Legal Team and colleagues in other legal teams, including overseas

What we’re looking for:
• Experienced qualified lawyer with good academic record
  • Familiarity with relevant financial services products and applicable regulations and able to apply judgment
  • Ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships and act as a strategic advisor
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills – verbal and written (technical and non-technical)

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Knowledge of cash management products and applicable legislation, including the Payment Services Regulations
  • Time management, prioritization and multi-tasking skills essential and commercial focus
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also independently with limited supervision
  • Willingness to undertake varied tasks and expand knowledge into other areas
