Position Overview & Specifications

Interim Social Media Lead – 6-month FTC: £70,000 – £75,000 (pro-rata) for London
Our new Marketing Centre of Excellence (CoE) has been formed with the aim of building outstanding capabilities across key marketing subject areas, from planning through to constantly evolving digital marketing channels! It changes the emphasis of what we do from product to customer and capability, with the ambition of delivering on our One Aviva strategy. The Marketing CoE sits alongside similar Data and Digital CoEs, supporting our Go to Market (GTM) teams as they translate business objectives into practical customer centric campaigns, communications and experiences.
The Marketing CoE is made up of 5 specialist teams - Marketing Strategy, Reporting and Planning; CRM, Content and Creative; Digital Marketing and Media; Customer Insight and Research; the team will lead on all marketing activity.
As a part of the new Digital Marketing and Media Team, we have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join us on a 6-month contract as Social Media Lead, reporting into the Head of Digital Marketing and Paid Media.
This is a chance to make a real impact in shaping the way we transform our consumer social media channels, including launching new channels, as well as defining our content approach and how we delivery an impact to our communities that drives engagement, while building audiences. Therefore, you’ll need to have demonstrable experience of delivering social programs that drive business impact, and that also use best practice, to drive customer engagement and trading performance.
A bit about the job:
You will be responsible for leading a small team, as well be accountable for the development of our consumer cross-channel social media strategy, partnering with social platforms to drive a step change in our approach at Aviva which will include identifying new channel opportunities, capabilities, and platforms we should be actively pursuing. You’ll also be responsible for overseeing all paid and organic campaigns and content, ensuring we’re driving business growth across core products and propositions (driving engagement as well as sales performance).
You must also be a confident storyteller (i.e., defining the role and impact that social contributes to the business, delivering new opportunities and activity to drive cost efficiencies, gain actionable insights, and ensure optimal customer experiences) as well as a great stakeholder engager, as you’ll work with a range of teams and functions to support the delivery of business goals, sharing of insights and performance reporting regularly.
Aviva introduced “smart-working” in 2020 and encourage flexible working; however, the successful post-holder will need to be based a commutable distance from our London offices (50/50 split between home and office working).
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
  • You’ll need to demonstrate extensive social media experience – both paid and organic – ideally focused on leading transformational social media programs, and working across multiple platforms to deliver evidenced business growth
  • Experience launching new social media channels, platforms, and capabilities within established organisations / big brands, with the ability to articulate business benefits
  • Experience undertaking creative format testing to drive results, as well as with using first party data, audience development and targeting capabilities,
  • Ability to partner with Media and Digital Marketing colleagues, creative and media agencies to develop a holistic approach to marketing programs and campaigns that support cross-channel experiences
  • Experience presenting performance insights and results to wider business stakeholders, to drive growth and buy-in to further develop
What you’ll get for this role (all the below will be offered pro-rata):
  • Annual salary of £70,000 to £75,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
