Position Overview & Specifications

Still family owned and run, we have evolved from simply fabricating conveyoring systems, to manufacturing and supplying high quality precision equipment, state-of-the-art software and intuitive control systems for materials handling equipment specifically for the global corrugated packaging market. Due to continuing growth in the business we are now seeking a Project Site Supervisor to be part of the ongoing success of Avanti Conveyors.

We are based in Furness Vale in a converted dye mill set on the edge of the village close to the Peak Forest Canal. We are positioned within walking distance of Furness Vale train station and a short walk from bus routes.

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:

To organise and deliver the installation of projects against a Project Manager planned project installation programme. To ensure that installation times are in line with the planned schedule, whilst meeting Avanti standards of quality, customer service, professionalism, and discipline.

The position is predominantly site based with taskings typically between several days to several weeks, at any of our customer sites which are spread throughout the UK and across the globe. Between jobs you will be based at our office and factory facility at Furness Vale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for leading individual teams on site to specific installation goals, from installation start to final test and acceptance sign off.
  • Organise all aspects of the project installation process.
  • Participate in meetings and consultations alongside the Project Manager, with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • To be on site for the full duration of the installation. This role involves significant periods of time working away from home, which often include weekends and public holidays.
  • Organise and supervise site acceptance tests and customer training, to achieve final project sign off.
  • Be capable of working ‘on the tools’ with the installation engineers in a mechanical or electrical capacity. Ideally both.
  • Manage the Avanti project delivery team including Installation Technicians, PLC, and Software Engineers, to ensure that each project is delivered On Time and In Full.
  • Make continuous improvement suggestions that will benefit future projects through feedback to Avanti’s design and manufacturing team
  • To work safely at all times and to promote good Health and Safety practice within the business.

PERSONAL PROFILE:

  • Excellent people management skills and a proven ability to manage teams on site on large, long term installation projects.
  • Ability to make quick decisions on site if any issues or problems are found.
  • Ability to deal with complex tasks and deliver them to known timelines.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers to generate confidence and a good rapport.
  • Proactive. Able to think ‘out of the box’ and resolve issues without always needing to escalate to management.
  • Appropriate hands-on experience and ideally has an in-depth knowledge of the automated processing machinery, materials handling field.
  • Clear communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise well.
  • Attention to detail - accurate and methodical in work.
  • Confident, calm, reliable, trustworthy, and cheerful. Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and determined.
  • Holds a driving licence
