Job Description


The Sourcing and Technical teams play a critical role in ASOS' ambitious strategy to become the world's number one destination for fashion-loving 20-somethings. We are on a journey over the next three years to become a truly global business that gives our customers around the world the confidence to be whoever they want to be. Key to the success of this strategy is amplifying ASOS' winning product offer, across own-brand and branded ranges, and delivering the speed to market, quality and value that our fashion-loving customers expect.

The Sourcing & Technical Director is accountable for managing and delivering Sourcing, Technical and Quality Assurance capabilities, as well as delivering the commitments outlined in our Fashion with Integrity strategy on sustainability and ethical practices.

Key Accountabilities

  • Setting the product technology, quality and sourcing strategies for ASOS, globally
  • Responsible for delivering improved margins and speed to market through optimised sourcing footprint and supplier management
  • Full accountability for product technology, quality, sustainability, and ethics in ASOS
  • Setting the technical, quality, sustainability, and ethical standards and outlining effective plans to meet targets
  • Establishing a fabrics and trims centre of excellence
  • Responsible for the sign off on factory audits from both a T&Q and sustainability and ethics perspective
  • Being the interface with Brand / Category Directors to agree on supplier management practices and expanding fabric and component sourcing processes
  • Working closely with Design on Digital advancements, including use of digital blocks
  • Working closely with Procurement on large e-auction sourcing projects
  • Ensuring delivery of a commercial offer that maximises sales whilst minimising markdown and achieving profit targets, to reduce returns
  • Leading a best in class team which supports the delivery of our strategy
  • Support the performance KPIs and strategy of the Commercial function and the business as a whole - revenue, profitability and returns rate are key success measures
  • Influence other leaders and teams through expert advice, guidance and counsel

Qualifications
  • A highly established and respected senior leader with an International Fashion Sourcing and Technical background across multiple geographies and product types
  • Experience of leading and inspiring high-performing teams, at scale
  • Strong strategic thinker, with the ability to set impactful Technical & Quality and Sourcing strategies
  • Strong negotiation and commercial acumen to drive supplier management practices
  • Ability to navigate complex sourcing strategies across multiple brands, customer types and price-points
  • Proven ability to deliver improvements in margin and speed to market through optimising the sourcing footprint and supplier management
  • Deep knowledge in Sourcing, Garment Production and Quality standards
  • Influencing and collaboration capabilities to work effectively with Buying, Design, Brand/Category teams and Procurement, as well as external partners
  • Ability make sound commercial decisions in a fast-paced environment
