Position Overview & Specifications

As a Platform Engineer working within a fast-paced technical team, you’ll be responsible for the management, monitoring and continuous improvement of our networks, infrastructure and cloud platforms (both user-facing and back-office). Pragmatic to the changing responsibilities of a traditional ‘sys-admin’ in the IT industry, you’ll remain flexible to perform cross-disciplinary technical tasks and work closely alongside agile software development teams to deliver cost-clever solutions to customers.

How your role fits within our team

Ascenti Digital is a multi-disciplinary team of technology professionals who help to underpin systems and processes for over 800 staff and thousands of patient appointments across the UK every week. We are a product-led department with a clear roadmap to deliver best practice tools and experiences for our service users. As a more senior member of the IT service desk, you’ll take ownership of support tickets as they are allocated to you from our ticketing system. You’ll also be responsible for resolving your tickets each day and supporting 1st line analysts with escalations. Your passion for IT will allow you to work across disciplines within the department and help to build your skills and experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Ability to deliver platform updates and changes at short notice and with a modern outlook – confidence to leverage cloud technology and apply solutions that align to the strategy of the business.
  • Direct responsibility for communicating and documenting policies and procedures to customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest knowledge and trends in the technology industry and striving to be an expert in your areas of specialism.
  • Applying technical theory, architecture design and tooling selection to real world business problems in order to leverage competitive advantage as part of the Ascenti Digital Strategy.
  • Maintaining change control and monitoring relevant SLAs and KPIs.
  • Providing support and project delivery outside core hours both as part of a rota and under a flexible working policy.

Culture and benefits

You will benefit from a competitive salary, 25 days of annual leave (+ bank holidays) and a great loyalty-based benefits package, which includes Vitality at Work membership, enhanced family (mat & pat) leave, free and discounted healthcare services and many other perks and rewards.

Ascenti is committed to continuous learning and progression, meaning that there will also be ample support and coaching in your role, with opportunities for you to develop if you wish. The goal is for Ascenti to be a workplace that creates a sense of belonging for everyone. This means that they actively work to promote equal opportunities across all that they do, including when recruiting new talent.

As a full-time Platform Engineer, you will work 37.5 hours, Monday – Friday.
