An exciting opportunity has arisen to join or established team as part of the Walsall Streetlighting PFI. Our PFI is very successful and has been for over 20 years, this is largely due to our excellent client relationship.

From day one you’ll be given real responsibility, gaining invaluable experience and exposure working alongside our industry experts and across your team. As an Apprentice, you will working alongside the team to deliver the following:

  • Maintenance of existing highway lighting
  • Installation and commissioning of new street furniture.
  • Electrical testing and inspection
  • Rectification of cable faults
  • Street lighting works on new developments.

The role

As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto a nationally recognised qualification via our training partner. Your Apprenticeship is fully supported through a combination of regular online lessons, e-learning materials, and access to their team of experts for 1-2-1 advice and support.

Within Amey, you’ll be partnered with a “buddy” to assist you as you settle into your new role within our Walsall PFI team, helping answer all those initial questions you may have. Once you’ve settled in, you will be allocated a mentor who will support you throughout your Apprenticeship, helping you develop the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed.

When you complete your Apprenticeship, your development does not stop! You’ll be given lots of opportunities to progress further within Amey as well as being encouraged to gain additional qualifications as you continue your career.

We therefore keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:

  • The apprenticeship entry requirements will be determined by Amey in collaboration with the academic delivery partner. England based applicants will typically require at least 5 GCSEs at Grades A*-C / 9-4 including Maths (Grade B / 5 or 6), English and Science or their equivalent. Applicants based in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland should expect to demonstrate an equivalent level of academic qualifications to those required in England
  • Available to commence employment with Amey in September 2023
  • The commitment and drive to complete your Apprenticeship and final assessment
