Job Description


AECOM are currently looking for a Design Engineer to work on our joint venture with Caledonia Water Alliance where we have teamed up with Morrison Water Services to deliver Scottish Water’s SR21 Water and Wastewater Infrastructure programme.

Are you a design engineer with experience delivering detailed outlines and designs of potable water infrastructure? We have an exciting role in our Caledonia Water Alliance project team based in Stepps as part of our joint venture with MWS and our client, Scottish Water.

The Role

This is a Design role in our capital Maintenance programme, where you will be involved in all project phases from project engagement through to CDM and Quality.

Role Responsibilities:

Project Engagement

  • Supporting the Lead Design Engineer during the acceptance and engagement phase of the project providing feedback on the quality and extent of the hand over documentation identifying gaps in information.
  • Attending site visits and client meetings as necessary, record information relevant to design and construction and ensure that information is circulated to the design team.

Design Phase

  • Assisting in the preparation of design information for both outline design and detailed design stages.
  • Monitor developing designs and resolve any issues highlighted by the design team escalating to the DLE as required.
  • Liaise with construction delivery teams regarding buildability issues.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders: AIM, CSD, Leakage, Delivery, Shared Services, Fire Authorities, Highways Authorities etc.
  • Ensure an up to date Change Log is kept.

CDM & Quality

  • Ensure that the Caledonia Water Alliance IMS procedures are implemented and adhered to.
  • Ensure the requirements of the Designer and Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations are met.
  • Review and sign off H&S documentation including design risk assessments.
  • Ensure checking procedure is adhered to.
  • Ensure that design information conforms to Scottish Water Standards & Specifications.

Qualifications


Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent).
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proven track record in small diameter mains rehabilitation, major projects.
