Job Purpose statement

To manage operational processes to ensure the effective flow of goods into, through and out of the warehouse to the point of delivery. Maintain focus on quality management systems and lean principles to ensure Acorn remains an efficient, high output facility.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

· Ensuring Health and safety and cleanliness requirements of the working environment are met

· Manage the Goods-In, Picking, and Despatch teams - motivating, organising and encouraging teamwork within the warehouse to ensure productivity targets are met

· Briefing team leaders on the issues for that day

- Continuously assess warehouse staff against identified performance criteria and address issues of performance and conduct within the warehouse and deal with these by applying Acorn HR policies.

· Training and mentoring of staff, monitoring their performance and progress

· Making sure stock is stored correctly and safely

· Planning work rotas for all warehouse staff

· Identify recruitment and staff training requirements

· Set and monitor bonus targets for the warehouse team

· Communicating with other departments, staff groups and customers

· Ensuring quality, delivery and budget objectives are met

- Ensure all staff focus on the customer and find ways to meet customer needs converting business strategy into practical day to day activities

- Instil a customer service ethic throughout the warehouse and ensure that queries are dealt with efficiently.

- Ensure customer service level meets company objectives, through measuring and taking corrective action where necessary.

- Ability to transact all warehouse operational activities

· Overseeing the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment

Essential Skills/Competencies/Experience/Qualifications Required:

Key Skills Required:

· Excellent numeracy skills

· Good IT skills, particularly using spreadsheets & databases

· The ability to plan and organise work schedules

· The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

· Strong decision making skills

· Leadership, motivational and team working skills

· Good spoken and written communication skills

Experience/Knowledge Required:

Experience of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement or similar production tools within a high volume, high quality warehouse facility would be an advantage.
